This year’s flagship phones powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor are selling for much higher than their predecessors and one of the factors is the price of the chipset. A new report from South Korea says, come next year, folks should expect to pay even more for phones.
According to IT Home, a Korean publication has reported that an order document signed by Xiaomi revealed that the price of the Snapdragon 875 Mobile Platform is around $250. The price is said to include both the application processor and the Snapdragon X60 5G modem.
The source reports that deliberations are on-going at Xiaomi regarding the price of their future flagships.
The Snapdragon 865 is currently shipping to manufacturers for between $150 and $160. This means the Snapdragon 875 is about $100 more expensive.
The chipset is said to likely feature a Super-Core Cortex-X1 processor that has 30% better performance than the Cortex-A77. This super-core will be combined with three Cortex-A78 cores and four efficiency cores in a 1+3+4 core arrangement.
Xiaomi currently offers some of the cheapest flagship phones under its sub-brand Redmi. While it will still try to do so, buyers should brace up to pay a little more than they did this year.
