About the Workshop

From powering the planet with renewable energy resources to assuring food and water security, every country in the world is facing serious challenges that require a strong and innovative technical workforce. Developing such a robust workforce requires drawing talents from all segments of society. In many countries the small percentage of women participating in technology fields is a strong indication that talent is being under-utilized, depriving countries of their ability to reach their full potential in innovation and discovery. This is certainly the case in the Lower Mekong countries of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam where economic prosperity hinges on their ability to build a technically strong and diverse workforce that fully involves and empowers women.

The workshop will include senior women technology leaders from leading multinational companies such as Intel and Cisco and will be facilitated by U.S. Science Envoy Prof. Dr. Geraldine Richmond. Professor Richmond is the Presidential Chair of Chemistry at the University of Oregon, and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
